Each week we look through our buy pile and choose what we feel are some of the week's best looking comic covers -- no easy task. Here are some of our favorites, below.
This week’s cover to MASKS #2 by artist Alex Ross is one we couldn’t look over. The way the artist melds each of these Dynamite heroes together in one cover is fantastic, and he does so in a way that still spotlights each of these individual characters.
== TEASER ==Artist Phil Noto's cover to ASTONISHING X-MEN #57 is really well done, with a big focus on Warbird at the center of the image. In the reflection of her blades are Wolverine and Gambit. It's a pretty picture with some fantastic colors.
It's evident that the cover to this month's AVENGERS ACADEMY #2 is an homage to the original cover of Lord of the Flies. It's a beautiful picture that is eloquently illustrated with vibrant colors that really got us to give it a second look. It's a fantastic cover by artists Chris Bachalo and Tim Townsend.
We loved the really pulpy cover to THE BLACK BEETLE: NIGHT SHIFT #0 by Francesco Francavilla this week. It reminded us of those old 1950's mystery paperback covers in the way it is styled, and the way Francavilla plays with light and shadows is simply awesome.
Speaking of Francesco Francavilla, the artist knocks it out of the park a second time with his stunning cover for CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BLACK WIDOW #640.
Artist Joao Ruas delivers yet another brilliant cover to FABLES with the cover for FABLE #124. The image is extremely detailed and the colors are minimalistic which really helps the details of the cover really pop.
Last but certainly not least was the cover to HELLBLAZER #298 by artist Simon Bisley. Bisley delivers a brilliantly detailed and very creepy cover to the comic, which is appropriately titled 'Death and Cigarettes.'
As usual, there are definitely some comic covers that we haven't mentioned. Feel free to list and post your favorites below and let us know which books you thought were some of the best this week.
